Knitted and Crochet Coastal Creations

Beach holidays, seafoam and coastal storms are the inspiration for these selected knitting and crochet patterns. We hope you will enjoy the spirit of the coast found in these designs. Just scroll down the page to the individual pattern you like and click on the link to that pattern. We hope this has given you lots of inspiration for your next project.

Sea Storm

Let the waves roll in and inspire your next creation. This Sea Storm poncho is by Ilga Leja Handknit Design. It has a combination of colours and dynamic stitch patterns that reflect the sea’s swirling surf. It has an unusual construction, therefore, lends itself to different ways of wearing. Leave it open for a shawl that drapes, alternatively sew it closed for a poncho with panache.

Sea Anemone knitting Bag

An unusual and fun sea anemone inspired bag design will attract attention while wearing this out and about. This bag by Mel Clarke is fun and bold with an individual character. It is knitted in one piece from the base up; bright tentacles are knitted onto the flap; then the whole thing is felted.” The pattern calls for 6 hanks (3 each of dark spruce heather and country green) for the body of the bag, and one hank (tangerine heather) for the contrasting “sea anemone” decoration.

North Sea Mandala

This mandala design is inspired by Tatsiana Kupryianchyk’s recent vacation to Belgium by the North Sea. Tatsiana bought two skeins of Larra cotton yarn by Scheepjes in a local yarn shop in Gent and designed it while spending relaxing hours at the beach. Use this pattern to create a nice mandala potholder or alternatively small coasters. Especially, it also a good to practice your chochet skills and a wonderful project for the HiyaHiya Aluminium Crochet Hooks.

Knitting Sea Breeze Cushion Cover

Create this Sea Breeze cushion by Julie Ferguson to add memories of that beach holiday to your interior. The seaside colours pop out with the use of the zig-zag design. Add extra coastal details to the cushion by selecting shell effect buttons. In addition, the cushion would look great with a matching throw if you want to take the project further.

In conclusion, we hope that these patterns have portrayed beautiful coastal visions and inspirations.
